For the first cuts. Let this hardworking # 3 Hercules take all of the shock and interruption. The 5/8" shank is a strong shank and any impacts are absorbed by the shank and then distributed into the tool rest and down into the ways of the lathe. This tool can also perform with a "soft touch" for those final finish cuts. For finish cuts, drop the handle to ride the bevel on the carbide for an amazing finish cut.
