In the Beginning Woodturning Spindle Class, we endeavor to cover all of the fundamentals of spindle turning using conventional spindle turning tools. Students will learn mounting techniques, grain direction, types of cuts, sanding, and finishing.   Class size is limited to a maximum of 5 participants and is booked on a first come first committed basis.

No prior experience is necessary for this class it is meant to be an introduction or a correction of basic woodturning skills.

For all classes we furnish all tools, blanks, and equipment.  In most cases we will use our tools to make sharpening simpler and more consistent, however, we ask that you bring what tools you use so we can discuss sharpening and help to make any adjustments in sharpening technique.  If you have any personal protection equipment you should bring that as well.

The class begins at 9:00 but you should arrive a few minutes early to get situated at a lathe.  We always break for lunch at 12:00 so you can either bring your own lunch or we can order out if necessary. Coffee, tea, soda, and water are available as well. We always work on practice pieces while teaching basic cuts and aim to complete 2 projects. A typical class ends around 3:30. This is always a fun class for those wanting to explore a new craft.

Classes are from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Maximum class size is 5 students.
